Tottenham midfielder Luke Amos could be on his way out of the club amid transfer interest from the Championship.
According to Charlie Eccleshare, Spurs correspondent for The Athletic, the 23-year-old is close to leaving the north London side this summer on a permanent deal to either Queens Park Rangers or Middlesbrough.
No bids have been made yet for the player and right now it is unsure where he will end up, although he was on loan at QPR last season, which could help the west London club to acquire him.
The defensive midfielder, who is a product of the youth academy at Spurs, has only made one senior appearance for the club, a two-minute appearance against Newcastle back in the Premier League in 2018, per Transfermarkt. He has made 52 appearances for the under-23 side and so has always been close to the senior set up, but has failed to make the breakthrough into the senior ranks at Tottenham.
At fellow London club QPR last season, Amos impressed in the middle of the pitch, playing 35 times, scoring twice and averaging 1.4 tackles and one interception per game, therefore highlighting his aptitide for breaking up opposition attacks, per WhoScored.
With little sign of a breakthrough at Tottenham, Amos may benefit from settling down permanently elsewhere and, having already made an impression at QPR, that seems like a good move for him. It would also keep him in London rather than having to make the significant trek north to Middlesbrough.
At 23, he needs to be playing football consistently, as he has been loaned out to Southend and Stevenage as well as QPR. If he wants to progress in his career he needs to move sooner rather than later and the move would benefit both him and Spurs, as the club would get his wages off their accounts, having derived little value from him on the pitch given his sparsity of appearances.
