Tottenham ‘in advanced talks with Nuno Espirito Santo after agreeing deal for former Wolves boss to become new manager’ https://ift.tt/2Q2AIll
TOTTENHAM have agreed a deal with Nuno Espirito Santo to become their new manager, according to reports.
The former Wolves boss is reportedly having face-to-face talks with the club’s new director of football Fabio Paratici today.
According to The Athletic, the 47-year-old Portuguese coach has agreed a deal ‘in principle’ to succeed Jose Mourinho at Tottenham.
The North London side have been searching for a new manager since April and fans have been frustrated with the long delay.
Club chief Daniel Levy has reportedly held talks with Antonio Conte, Mauricio Pochettino, Hansi Flick, Paulo Fonseca, Gennaro Gattuso and Julen Lopetegui about the vacant position at the club.
Nuno left Wolves at the end of last season by mutual consent after guiding them to the Championship title in 2017-18 and back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the Premier League.
The West Midlands side also reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League in 2019-20 but finished 13th in the Prem last term.

OUSMANE DEMBELE has left France’s Euro 2020 squad after suffering an injury in the draw with Hungary.
Les Bleus had only brought on the winger as a substitute three minutes before he was struck down with an apparent foot problem.
And Dembele was sent home from the squad on Monday after being ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.
France face Portugal on Wednesday knowing a defeat may leave them out of the top two in Group F.

Neymar breaks down in tears after stunning display in Copa America win puts star closer to Pele’s Brazil goal record https://ift.tt/3iGX8VF
NEYMAR broke down in tears after taking another step towards Pele’s Brazil goal record in a scintillating Copa America victory over Peru.
The all-time great’s tally of 77 is just nine away for the Paris Saint-Germain star following Thursday night’s 4-0 win.

And the chance to overtake the legendary Pele led to Neymar breaking down while giving a heartfelt response post-game.
He stated: “It’s moving for me, I’ve been through a lot these last two years.
“These numbers are nothing more than my joy of playing for Brazil, representing my country, my family.
“We’re all going through a very atypical moment, a very hard moment in Brazil and elsewhere.
“To be a role model for someone, to make people happy, it gives me joy. I love the story that I’m writing here, I want my family and friends to be proud.
“I hope everyone who loves this game are proud of me, because these numbers don’t really mean anything, only the pride of representing Brazil.”
Pele, 80, took to Instagram to call on Neymar to do his country proud by taking the record.
He wrote: “Every time I see this boy, he is smiling.
“It’s impossible not to smile back. It is contagious. I, like all Brazilians, am always happy when I see him playing soccer.
“Today, he took another step towards my goalscoring record for the Selecao. And I’m rooting for him to get there, with the same joy I’ve had since I saw him play for the first time.”
Copa America hosts Brazil took the lead after only 12 minutes as Neymar delivered a cross from the left flank that was headed clear.
But Manchester City ace Gabriel Jesus returned the ball to the penalty area where Alex Sandro was left alone to fire it into the back of the net.
The Brazilians thought they would double their lead from the penalty spot on 61 minutes but VAR ruled that Neymar had gone down on his own while under pressure from Renato Tapia.
But that didn’t matter as the 29-year-old got his goal anyway in the 68th minute with a stunning long-range shot after a pass by Fred caught Peru’s backline off guard.
Tite’s men made it three just a minute before full-time when Neymar passed to Richarlison on his left and the Everton ace delivered a through ball for Everton Ribeiro to finish off a beautiful move.
And Richarlison sealed another key win in the third minute of stoppage time when Neymar produced an incredible through ball to Roberto Firmino, but the Liverpool star was denied by Pedro Gallese.

Richarlison then fired a shot of his own that was blocked by a defender, only for the Toffees star to try again and this time hit the net.
Peru spent most of the match trying to control Brazil’s tempo by holding on to the ball, which is why they dominated possession at half-time.
But Gareca’s men couldn’t provide much threat as the Selecao’s centre-back duo of Chelsea star Thiago Silva and Real Madrid ace Eder Militao comfortably kept striker Gianluca Lapadula quiet.
The closest Peru came to scoring came on 78 minutes when Alex Valera found himself in front of Ederson after a set-piece – but sent the ball over the crossbar.

Premier League fixtures 2021/22: Man Utd vs Leeds and Spurs vs City but who’ll have Kane after transfer merry-go-round? https://ift.tt/3pYfyWA
THE fixture list for the 2021-22 Premier League season is out – and Manchester United’s clash with Leeds is the pick of the opening day games.
United host bitter rivals Leeds at Old Trafford as the new season gets underway with a bang in what could be Jadon Sancho’s debut for the Red Devils.
United are desperately chasing the England winger for a second straight summer but are still £11million adrift of Borussia Dortmund’s £86m valuation.
Manchester City will kick-off their title defence – without talisman Sergio Aguero for the first time in a decade – with a tricky trip to Tottenham.
And it could to be a shock return to Spurs for striker Harry Kane who has said he wants to leave North London.
Man City are poised to smash the transfer record for England captain Kane, whose first game for the club could be an emotional return to Tottenham.
Champions League winners Chelsea host Crystal Palace in what could be the first glimpse of striker Erling Haaland at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are desperate to sign a new striker and in-demand Dortmund ace Haaland is their No1 priority.
Liverpool look to reclaim their crown as they travel to newly-promoted Norwich.
Arsenal make the short trip across North London to play Premier League new-boys Brentford, with Aaron Ramsey set for an emotional return to the Gunners this summer.
Elsewhere, Everton host Southampton, Burnley take on Brighton, Wolves travel to Leicester, Newcastle face West Ham and Watford welcome Aston Villa to Vicarage Road.

Among the biggest games for next season, Arsenal host Tottenham in the first North London derby on September 25.
The return fixture at Spurs will take place on January 15.
Further north, Man Utd will host local rivals City on November 6, with the reverse tie at the Etihad taking place on March 5.
The first Merseyside derby of the new season will go ahead at Goodison Park on November 30, with the Anfield fixture taking place on April 23.
This season’s bumper Boxing Day schedule looks tasty, too.
Liverpool host Leeds in the pick of the bunch, while Man City host Leicester and United travel to Newcastle.
Arsenal travel to Norwich, Spurs host Palace and Chelsea make the trip to Villa.
Brighton host Brentford, Burnley welcome Everton, Southampton travel to East London to take on West Ham and Wolves face Watford in the remaining festive fixtures.
In other crunch games, Liverpool face Man City on October 2 and April 9 as the Reds look to wrestle back their Premier League crown from Guardiola’s squad.
As always, fans have reacted to the news in their thousands on social media.
One disgruntled Chelsea fan wrote: “Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Man City in the opening 6 games lmao they really hate us.
“But we move, best to get the tougher games out of the way early on.”
Looking at their horror autumn run, a Man Utd fan said: “October and November have some serious fixtures.
“They could make or break our season.”
On Arsenal’s tricky start, one Gooner tweeted: “Arteta under massive pressure now, tough starting fixtures.
“I doubt the board will allow another bad start. Especially if he is backed in this window.”
A pessimistic Tottenham supporter added: “First thing every Spurs fan looks at is the NLD fixtures.
“However after the season we have just had I’m looking at the last game because I am not looking forward to it with no manager yet and a club with no hope…”
