That instantly made him the club’s top earner ahead of fellow German and summer arrival Timo Werner, who is on a reported £270,000 per week at Stamford Bridge.

But despite their mammoth wages, the pair have struggled to find their best form just yet.

Werner ended a 100-day, 1,000-minute goal drought against Newcastle but for Havertz his return does not make pretty reading.

In the 24 weeks since arriving, he has managed one league goal and three assists despite pocketing £7.4m.

The goal and two of the assists came within three matches in September and October – his only assist since then was in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on January 3.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – the top-paid academy graduate – picked up £120,000 last week, despite only playing for 31 minutes against Southampton.

Jorginho, Olivier Giroud and Thiago Silva are all on £110,000 while Marcos Alonso, Reece James, Mateo Kovacic, Antonio Rudiger and Hakim Ziyech each earn £100,000 per week.

However, Mount – arguably Chelsea’s player of the season so far – is on just north of £88,000 per week.

He has delivered the goods this term, playing more minutes than anyone else in all competitions and chipping in with five goals and six assists, with seven of those in the Premier League.

Mendy earns £300,000 a week less than David De Gea at Manchester United but has proved a smart signing.

Former academy stars Tammy Abraham (£58k) and Billy Gilmour (£43k) are only ahead of Kurt Zouma (£40k) and veteran third-choice ‘keeper Willy Caballero who will earn £1.8m this season.

LUKE SHAW has hailed his new Manchester United team-mate Amad Diallo and claims he reminds him of Riyad Mahrez.

The 18-year-old arrived in a £37million deal from Atalanta in January with fans getting their first glimpse of the winger last week.

After dazzling for the club’s U23s, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him a senior debut off the bench during last week’s 4-0 Europa League win at Real Sociedad.

Diallo has been tipped by many for a bright future at Old Trafford.

And left-back Shaw has whetted the appetite of the Stretford End even further by revealing how the Ivorian has been a shining light in training as well.

Shaw told Sky Sports: “He’s still so young but he’s come into training and you can tell he’s got confidence.

“You can tell by the way he plays, his first touch is brilliant, the way he takes the ball and drives at players. He’s got great skill.

“Of course, like I said, very skilful and got a long way to go. But you can tell already he’s going to be one for the future and I’m sure he’s not far away from getting a first team appearance.”

United fans will be delighted to hear how much the new boy has caught the eye of Shaw.

And the defender even admitted that the attacker reminds both he and captain Harry Maguire of one of rival Man City’s star men.

The 25-year-old added: “He’s a wonderful talent and already a wonderful player so I’m sure fans are looking forward to seeing him on the pitch.

“It was interesting because Harry said to me the other day that he reminds him of Mahrez when he was at Leicester.

“Really quick, skilful, agility, can turn really quick, got great skills and I would agree with Harry – he does remind me of Mahrez.

“Even the way Mahrez plays now I’ve seen the qualities that Amad already has and has shown in training.

“Mahrez is a wonderful player so hopefully if he’s any good like him it would be great for United.”

TOTTENHAM ace Erik Lamela has denied he was guilty of a fashion faux pas after Spurs’ Europa League first leg against Wolfsberg.

Lamela was snapped alongside teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after Spurs’ 4-1 win over the Austrian side on Thursday – which was played in Hungary due to coronavirus restrictions.

A fan on Twitter spotted that the Argentine seemed to have zipped his puffer jacket to another jacket he was wearing underneath.

Fortunately Lamela saw the funny side, responding: “It just seems [like it].

“I’m not as crazy as you think.”

Lamela’s followers were less than convinced by his rebuttal, although he may have started a new trend if some of the responses are anything to go by.

One fan replied: “Actually pretty smart. Warmth of two coats, only one zip to undo.”

Another tweeted: “Ngl that half puffer jacket and half training jacket doesn’t even look bad.”

Lamela notched a first assist of the season after coming off the bench against Wolfsberg, setting up Carlos Vinicius for Spurs’ fourth goal.

Goals from Son Heung-Min, Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura had given Jose Mourinho’s side a comfortable first half lead.

Wolfsberg’s Michael Lindl made it 3-1 from the penalty spot and Spurs were given a fright when Christopher Wernitzig’s effort thumped against the bar and bounced off the line.

But Spurs managed to restore their three-goal advantage in the 87th minute, as Lamela nodded on Hojbjerg’s cross to present Vinicius with a tap-in inside the six-yard box.

The return leg will be played in London next week but before that Spurs face a trip to fifth-placed West Ham on Sunday.

Lamela and co will be hoping to close the six-point gap on their London rivals and get their top-four tilt back on track after just one win in their last five Premier League matches.

And in another image, the former Porto man is seen executing an acrobatic over-head kick with his toned arms and torso on show.

The post received more than 1.3million likes and 3,300 comments from impressed fans.

It was captioned: “Hulk will forever be a beast.”

Croatian footballer Ivan Klasnic commented and simply wrote: “Wooooooow beeeeeeeaaaaasssttt.”

Rino Russo wrote: “Hulk’s muscles have muscles.”

Hulk – who ditched his wife to go out with her niece – left Shanghai SIPG in December and was snapped up by Brazilian outlet Atletico in the new year.

He was linked with a host of Premier League sides, as well as with a return to Porto.

Following PSG’s 4-1 win against Barca in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg, Arsene Wenger has urged Les Parisiens to focus on on keeping Neymar and Mbappe instead of signing Messi.

He said: “Mbappe is free in 2022. If he does not extend in 2021 PSG has to sell Mbappe or he will be completely free in 2022.

“And they have to extend Neymar and Mbappe together. And it looks like that will be financially very very expensive.

“And the question PSG has to answer, can they convince the two? And do they have the money to do it? Because they need to sign the two together.

“Messi demands a huge investment and I would say PSG today is more focussed on keeping their two best players and investing all the money they have into their two best players.

“Mbappe is 22 maybe the future best player in the world so when you have the next two best players in the world, keep them.”

Neymar – who has twice been included in the French Team of the Year – has scored 83 goals in 103 games for PSG in all competitions.

DEAN HENDERSON is set to be handed a golden opportunity to stake his claim for the No1 jersey in Manchester United’s FA Cup showdown.

The England stopper is likely to start in the fifth-round showdown with West Ham on Tuesday night.

While Henderson has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s cup keeper this season, the current No1 shirt is up for grabs following David De Gea’s latest blunders.

The Spaniard was heavily criticised for not being brave enough to stop Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s last-gasp equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Everton at the weekend.

De Gea was also blamed for pushing the ball out straight to Abdoulaye Doucoure for Everton’s first.

Henderson, 23, is chomping at the bit for regular starts following his two-year successful stint at Sheffield United and knows a solid performance could see him get the nod in the league.

Meanwhile Solskjaer is likely to field almost his strongest side as he looks for his first piece of silverware at United boss.

Alex Telles could come in for Luke Shaw but Paul Pogba remains a huge doubt in midfield.

The Frenchman hobbled off against Everton with a thigh injury and went for a scan on Sunday.

That could mean a midfield of Scott McTominay and Fred with Nemanja Matic also an option.

Bruno Fernandes is likely to start in the No10 role ahead of Donny van de Beek while Anthony Martial could come back in.

The forward has started on the bench for their last three matches.

Edinson Cavani could be rested in attack giving Martial the chance to prove his worth.

Phil Jones remains sidelined with a knee injury while fellow centre-back Eric Bailly is also likely to miss out with a knock.
